599 Castro – Historical Church Renovated to Bring New Life to Downtown Mountain View

Located in the heart of Downtown Mountain View, 599 Castro offers many exciting opportunities the City and its residents. Transformation of the previously underutilized space was once used for the church parking lot began in late 2016 with a goal of incorporating office, retail and residential mixed-use space while leaving the 1905 built historic church operational during construction.

The 4-story mixed-use space features both commercial and residential spaces.  This new construction includes 109,108 square feet of class “A” office space including 8,622 square feet of future retail space and three levels of below ground parking. The 17,290 square foot residential space consists of four 1-bedroom single story flats, eight 2-story townhomes, a 3,430 square foot ground level parish office as well as multiple ammenity areas (roof-top deck, terraces, and courtyard plaza shared between the church, townhouse residents, office and retail tennants) stretching 6,339 square feet. This structure sits atop a three level underground parking garage.

 

Scope of Work

ArchKey/Sprig partnered with Arc Tec, Inc. and Steinberg Architects on the electrical design features across the entire development. Our scope of work was extensive and included the following: core & shell build-out, design-build of electrical and fire & life safety services to both the commercial and residential spaces, ammenity areas, parking garage, historical church and all couryard and site lighting.
