Barnes Jewish Hospital’s Solar Array Lights the Way to Low Carbon Transition

Our team partnered with Ameren and BJC to design and construct a pioneering 1.8MW solar array canopy on the 8-story east parking garage of Barnes Jewish Hospital. This project marks a significant advancement in renewable energy initiatives, utilizing a space equivalent to two football fields to house 4,575 solar panels. This strategic placement leverages unobstructed sunlight to generate an impressive average of 200,000 megawatts of solar energy each month.

As the design-build partner, our responsibilities extended across design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of this 2,000 kVA photovoltaic solar array canopy. The project seamlessly integrated with the existing concrete structure of the garage and included comprehensive solutions for grounding, lightning protection, and lighting, enhancing both functionality and sustainability.
