Barnes Jewish Center Solar Garage

Our team was hired as a design-build partner to provide design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of the 1.8MW solar array canopy that now sitst atop the existing 8-story concrete east parking garage located at Barnes Jewish Hospital. A first of its kind, Ameren and BJC partnered together to launch this renewable energy program. With the help of Ameren and the Sachs team, the healthcare facility commissioned a solar array canopy which consisted of 4,575 solar panels – the area equivalent of two football fields – to transform unused space with unobstructed sun exposure into an energy producing, renewable site producing an average of 200,000 megawatts of solar energy each month.

Scope of Work

As design-build partner on this project, our team provided design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the 2,000 kVA photovoltaic solar array canopy. Project work included complete integration with the existing concrete garage structure, grounding, lightning protection, and lighting.
