U of M Athlete Village

Construction on this 337,400 square-foot sports facility located on the East Bank of the Minneapolis University of Minnesota campus began in April 2016 and was turned over to the University during the summer of 2018. The three-building, 5-story Student – Athlete Center for Excellence included a men’s and women’s basketball practice facility stretching over 130,000 square feet, locker rooms, an 80,000 square indoor practice football field, and numerous training facilities.

This facility was prewired for power and lighting, network infrastructure, voice/data, and incorporates state-of-the-art amenities featuring auditoriums, lounges, hydrotherapy pools, a nutrition center, and a University of Minnesota Hall of Fame.

Scope of Work

Our electrical design-assist scope included all power, lighting and distribution systems for the entire complex, including cutting and refeeding temporary power through the existing Bierman building, one of many challenges faced on this job.

ArchKey Technologies installed the network infrastructure and voice/data scopes to the entire complex, installing the fiber/copper backbone, coax cabling, CATV cabling, projection screens and lifts, intercoms, broadcast cabling, and scoreboard and speaker cabling for the basketball courts and conference rooms.
